GoChess: Review, Rewards & Backer Guide
Editorial Team  ·  5 min read  ·  Updated October 2026
GoChess (indiegogo.com) is an Indiegogo campaign by Particula. GoChess uses small robots beneath the board to move magnetic pieces on their own, so you can play remote opponents on platforms such as Chess.com or an AI with many difficulty levels. LEDs under each square can suggest good and bad moves, and a companion app adds puzzles, famous game replays and progress tracking.

Our Verdict: Online chess on a real board
GoChess brings online and AI chess onto a physical board with pieces that move by themselves, making it one of the most advanced chess sets available. Keep in mind that it is a crowdfunding project rather than a regular online shop: you pledge for a reward and it ships after production, following the timeline on the campaign page.

What You'll Find at GoChess
GoChess smart boards. The campaign offers the GoChess robotic board, and Particula has previously also sold a lighter version without robots plus optional wooden piece upgrades. Check the Indiegogo page for the versions in this campaign.
Reward tiers and bundles. GoChess offers several pledge levels on Indiegogo, typically an early-bird tier, a standard reward and multi-unit or bundle options, plus optional add-ons. Exact prices and what each tier includes are listed on the campaign page and change as limited tiers sell out.
How backing works. When you back GoChess, you pledge for a reward rather than buying from stock. After the campaign closes, the creator finalises production and ships rewards to backers, usually collecting shipping details through a pledge manager.
